Miroslava Kavgic, PhD

Miroslava Kavgic worked for two years as a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Renewable Energy Storage Lab. She is now an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba.

Miroslava obtained her MEng in mechanical engineering (2004) at the Belgrade University in Serbia and both her MSc (2006) and PhD (2013) in Environmental Design and Engineering at the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies, University College London (UCL) in the UK. The objectives of her PhD research were to develop a comprehensive and representative physically disaggregated bottom-up model for estimating energy consumption and CO2 emissions of Belgrade’s housing stock, and a number of explorative probabilistic scenarios for reducing the residential space heating energy consumption and associated CO2 emissions.
From 2004 to 2014 she worked in the industry, first as a designer of mechanical installations and thereafter as a project manager, in two Belgrade’s construction companies. Over the year 2010/2011 year Miroslava worked as a teaching associate at subject Thermodynamics at Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. From 2010 to 2014 she also worked as a Research Associate in the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences in Belgrade, where she was involved in the PURGE-a FP7 EU project that examines the health impacts of GHG reduction policies in urban settings in Europe, China and India.
